Breakup Poem

You ask me if I am afraid.

But I am not afraid.

I swore you were the breath in my life.

I hoped you were the wind.

Now I walk out of this broken heart.

And see the beloved for the first time.

And know that you are not the beloved.

I am the beloved.

And I am the breath.

And I am the wind.
